Is it fair to say New York has become more ethnic overall yet gentrified at the same time with more and more youth seeking domicile?

I’ve not been to New York City in 20 years

I was in Chicago a few months ago and impressed with how livable the normal areas were

And how American feeling compared to say Miami or San Antonio

Manhattan always seems very middle to upper-middle class to me - with plenty of African-Americans and Puerto Ricans who are like apple pie and the flag to me. It saddened me that last weekend going to a party in Jamaica where I was raised to see how Columbian/Arabic the area had become. All the old Irish and German of that neighborhood either dead or moved away. Unbearable to remember how wonderful it all was when I was a child and how shabby and dirty it looked last Sunday.
