Sen. Jeff Sessions said Thursday night that House Speaker Paul Ryan made an error by saying hes not ready to support Donald Trump yet, and said Ryan and other leaders need to realize the Republican Party is shifting under their feet.
I think this was a big mistake, I really do, the Alabama Republican said on Fox News. And Im very surprised, frankly, since hed indicated hed support whoever the nominee was.
The speaker of the House is a big leader, an important figure in the Republican Party, he added. He calls on House members every day to stand with him and unity, and he needs to set a good example for Republicans.
Ryan shocked political observers by saying he wasnt ready to endorse Trump, and Trump followed by saying he is not ready to support Speaker Ryans agenda. Despite the bluster, reports soon followed that the two are trying to arrange a meeting.

I would have to say if Jeff Sessions takes you to the shed for a spanking, you have crossed the line of no return...
This only helps Trump,I would like to think this is some genius strategy but I know better.
Yuge! YUGE mistake by Paul Ryan.
Either Ryan is utterly out of touch or he is immolating himself so he won't be in office when Trump is president.
I like him for the VP job. He can step down later if Trump wants to groom a younger anti-establishment pro-American person for the presidency.
Whatcha think about my post #7?
Why wouldn’t Ryan support Trump? I see no downside to supporting the putative nominee of your party and a BIG downside if Trump ends up winning. The only conceivable reason is because his financial backers told him not to. Now we know who he’s working for and its not the people who elected him.
The problem is that Palin has zero congressional experience to get legislation through congress and Trump has consistently said this was a top skill he was looking for.
Sessions would be great. He would be a real stick in the eye to the race baiting identity politics of the Dems.
I do too, but prefer that the fine Senator Sessions replace McConnell as Majority Leader in the Senate.

There is no one else other than Sessions who has:
1. High energy
2. Extensive legislation experience
3. Shares Trump’s values
Trump has said many many times he is looking for someone whose legislative experience would help get bills passed. Who else has the above requirements?
The Vice President will need to step in and replace President Trump in 2024.
Jeff Sessions, as good as he is, is going to be is going to be 78 when sworn in, and at least 82 at the end of his first term.
I agree. And to those who insist Sessions is too old, I’ll remind them that at this time in our country’s life, WISDOM is badly needed and Jeff Sessions is one of the very few wise men in Washington.
He’s a southerner, too.
I’m fine with Sessions.
Ryan may have been expecting to be drafted at a brokered convention, and now he sees his dreams of going down in flames to Hillary Clinton, being dashed. He had been hoping to write a book about losing to Two Historic Candidates, not just one.
Please note, this ignorance right here is precisely what will lose the House & Senate for the GOP. You have a hard lesson coming to you. America is done being stabbed in the back by the GOP.
Sincerely,
We The People
I don’t care if Ryan ever gets on the Trump Train. I want to see Ryan completely destroyed and the sooner the better.
