Between adding to her ever-growing celeb squad and feigning shock at winning yet another award, Taylor Swift is continuing her quest for world domination by claiming the title of top earning musician in 2015.
The pop princess topped Billboards Top Money-Makers list for 2015, beating out heavy hitters like Adele and One Direction with a total revenue of $73.5 million. The majority of her earnings for the year came from her wildly successful 1989 World Tour, clocking in at $61.7 million.

I’m sorry but Taylor Swift give me a real freaky vibe. She seems like a total spoiled brat to me. One of course you can sugarcoat it for the public.
Can’t stand her. If one of her songs come on, I change the station.
Why, thank you...
I’ve heard dozens of stories about her (kids...lol) and every single one of them she’s doing something good, kind, gracious etc...
You haven’t read her history. I first heard of her on a TV documentary. Her parents helped her a lot. She worked hard to get where she is. She’s got to be smart. AFIK she’s not trashy nor drug-laden.
I have a friend in Nashville. She is in the business. From what she’s said, TSwift is the real deal.
My younger daughter was a huge fan when she was in high school, years ago. Her sister and I bet her $100 that Swift would be in rehab by the time she was 30. We figured no one could be THAT nice.
Aside from being a “fool for love”, I guess she is nice.
Well she is a songwriter and a performer. She has been writing songs since she was 12. Unlike some of these singers -- she actually writes her own music.
I’m sure she’s intelligent. I made no comments about her mental capabilities. I’m quite certain she’s worked quite hard as well, and I don’t begrudge one penny of her success. As for her parental support, this goes to part of the reason why Taylor Swift is me such an icky vibe. Her parental support was a little over the top. The old line about being born and third base and thinking she hit a triple comes to mind.
She strikes me as completely fake and manufactured to fit an undeniably successful packaging. I don’t think she’s an awful person or anything. I just think there’s a phones veneer.
Ryan Adams covered the album and I really liked it. Added a bit of Springsteen to it. Good stuff
I’m not a fan of her stuff, but your impression is 100% the opposite of reality. She is self-made, the right way.
Of course it doesn’t hurt that she’s also smoking hot... but she’s not the only smoking hot chick out there trying to make it in the music industry.
IMHO she’s cute but no where near smoking hot. As for self made, she must have started early to choose wealthy parents willing to uproot themselves and move to Nashville to support her career when she was 14. If only I had chosen my parents so wisely!

It blows my mind that such a big portion of her income is from touring. If you take out endorsements, licensing, etc., I wonder how much of what is left is actually net profit from music sales/ royalties?
That is where all the bands/singers make the big money on tour. Record labels get most of the sales from the albums.
Artist of the year is based upon touring earnings.

The reality is that touring is where most musicians have to make their money these days. Digital pirating and the “sharing” services have totally changed the game. A generation or so ago a “hit album” or two and you were set, not any more; millions of copies of that album can be distributed around the world and you won’t see a dime.
In a way it is like a return to the music business before the LP and the single. She is just one of the best at adapting to the new (old) environment.
She had contributed to charity more than most entertainers, including to victims of the extensive flood in Iowa.
Again, I have not damned her as being a bad person. There’s just a vibe of the rich kid “teacher’s pet” in her. Her father is a finincial bigwig so in guessngvmuch of her charitible giving becomes tax deductions. Still, good for her.
I like her.
She started with ‘country’. Great little song:

We could do worse. I for one welcome our new overlord.
