State lawmakers in California are circulating legislation that would open the door for illegal immigrants to buy health insurance from Covered California, the state's Obamacare exchange.
State Sen. Ricardo Lara introduced the bill to pave the way for illegal immigrants to purchase health plans from Covered California.
Many people believe this move to not grant money makes the legislation mainly symbolic because most illegal immigrants would not practically be able to pay for health premiums on their own, according to Kaiser Health.
Covered California staff personnel presented an analysis of the proposed legislation to the organization's board last month and estimated that enrollment would increase by 50,000 if illegals could buy through the exchange.
Ira Mehlman, a spokesman for the Federation for American Immigration Reform, said the Lara bill would be "tantamount to excepting their unlawful presence in the country."
He argued "this is just the first step in eventually getting subsidized coverage" as California would set a precedent that other states would soon follow.
Supporters of expanding health care coverage acknowledge that permitting illegals to make purchases on the state exchange will not necessarily make coverage more affordable for them.

How kind of the California legislature, to give some version of Obamacare to illegal squatters in this country.
Cloward-Piven tactics taken to new heights. Overload the existing social services program, to the point it cannot possibly deliver promised services, and use the ensuing chaos as justification for taking draconian measures to ration whatever services are to be delivered. Or deny those services altogether.
The second part of the strategy is to blame the political enemies for causing this “situation”.

Covered Cal bases premiums on income with fedgov paying the lion’s share. This law would open up Medi-Cal, which already covers minors, to adult illegals.
Calif Republican lawmakers should call for an immediate moratorium on any laws involving illegals until after the presidential election since most of the ‘sanctuary’ laws will be tossed out by the new administration

If only we could ‘give’ Kalifornia back to Mejico. All the ‘free’ stuff (health care, section 8, HUD, food stamps, etc.) would instantly disappear.
