This is true.
And part of why Trump is so much fun.
Milo definitely gets it. While Rush calls the Indiana Trump supporters who took down Cruz ‘braindead,’ Cambridge-educated Milo saw the absolute hilarity in their quick verbal assaults. When Cruz tried video - that awful stunt of cooking bacon on a rifle - most people groaned at the doofusness of it.
hard to imagine any of this “magic” rubbing off on hillary.
impossible, actually.
“Arguing with battle-tested denizens of Twitter and internet forums is almost always a losing proposition, as Cruz would know if there were anyone on his campaign team who understood the culture.”
I’ll have to admit that FR is where I’ve developed my “battle-testedness” over the course of posting thousands of times here during the last seven years.
Thank you FR and thank you Jim Robinson!
That’s a good article, and highlights the importance of understanding the popular culture.
A few weeks ago, a FReeper complained about Trump’s use of Twitter and Facebook, since it shows that Trump is not a “serious” candidate.
On the contrary, I argued. The internet is how you engage young people, and Trump knows that. Republicans, in general, have not done a good job engaging young people where they “live,” while the left immediately jumped into it. Oh, there are plenty of conservative young people who are comfortable with internet culture—but the politicians who need their support are not connecting with them.
Trump is doing a great job of engaging young people through the media that they use.
Major realignment underway.
