Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, abruptly suspending his Republican presidential campaign Tuesday night after another crushing primary defeat to Donald Trump, assured emotional supporters in Indiana that they helped grow an extraordinary movement declaring his team left it all on the field in their final push.
ADVERTISEMENT "It appears that path [to victory] has been foreclosed," Cruz told supporters in Indianapolis. "Together, we left it all on the field of Indiana. We gave it everything we've got, but the voters chose another path, and so with a heavy heart but with boundless optimism for the long-term future of our nation, we are suspending our campaign."
The underdog candidate, who all along had vowed to force Trump into a contested convention in July, stunned supporters by dropping out following a big loss in Indiana. Some people in the crowd could be seen crying and hugging each other.
But Cruz indicated he has no plans to fade away.

Buckeye Kasich is my last choice for V.P. Spiro T. Agnew would have been better!
“He should have told them to pick up the flag and continue the fight.”
Here in Washington state there was an internet news poll (I know!) where the question was “If you are a Conservative, will you vote for Donald Trump?”
With 500 votes it was running something like 65% no.
I’m a #neverHillary person, but now I’m wondering if that will be enough. I know that there will be a strong Cruz group at our upcoming State convention. But it doesn’t sound like there will be much enthusiasm for Trump - and they will probably focus on more local efforts to get the vote out for a Republican Governor and congressman.
And thank you Donald for putting in a good word for Cruz in your victory speech.
I read them. So did lots of others on this thread, who also saw your subsequent denials and "explanations" as self-justifying loads of horse pucky. Your subsequent quiet walk-backs-while-not-admitting-anything were positively Clinton-esque. I was half-expecting you to start redefining the word "is"...
The rest of the projections in your comment aren't worth the dignity of a response. Get well soon, FRiend.
You picked a fight with me and I have no idea why.
You are the smarter one because you know why.
Reminds me of the McCain & Romney campaigns.
How many conservatives said they wouldn’t vote.
(yeah I know....)
“How many conservatives said they wouldnt vote.”
Well, sadly, not enough of them - and we got Obama. Trump may very well get enough democrats to vote for him to make up for it. And, perhaps a lot of democrats will stay home this year because Beloved Bernie got beat by Hated Hillary.
bkmk

I know both of them and Vance has always seems a pompous ass. Bryant is a better person, but not support Trump, no voty Bryant.
They need to get a grip on themselves.
