Seems to me he should be under consideration. He has much less of a distance to go to align with Trump personally and politically than most other potential picks. And he has more of a national profile, more campaigning experience as well as more legislative experience than most other picks. Trump has said he doesn’t want to pick someone without political experience, so that also narrows things down. Picking a governor with no national experience is a possibility, but every time I see one of them they seem really bad on television.

Kasich might be a more strategic pick than Santorum, but I hate his cowtowing to the left and any chemistry with Trump seems like it would not be there. His style of trying to talk about unity with liberals is just at such a right angle to Trump.
