let’s assume for fun that what Cruz says is true.

I am thinking the man may have a point.

does he really think he’s going to straighten us out by this rant?

I think he might hope so, but it is not very likely. The Trump phenomena has created a preference cascade, and at this point it is just mob psychology.

You can't turn a mob with reason. You pretty much can't turn them with anything. They just have to come to their senses on their own.

Usually after it's too late to matter.

Substitute Cruz for Trump and you got it right. The Cruzbots cannot accept the results of the voters. Cruz is not going to be the nominee. Why is he still in the race? Why is Kasich still in the race?

Yeah, it's us pesky voters again ... people like me who (in your opinion), being nothing more than a member of "a mob" haven't yet come to our "senses on our own"; that is, we are not prepared to accept the judgment of the intellectually elite and elect another socialist with yet another weak candidate.

Hey pal, I just want to prevent another socialist from being elected president and, after careful consideration using my sound mind, I conclude the best way -- likely the only way -- to accomplish that is to go with a populist rather than, although he is a good conservative, has a very low chance to win.
