What is admitted, and bnot in doubt, is Ted’s father was a communist terrorist that took up arms to overthrow the president of Cuba. He panicked and fled to the US when he thought Castro would lose.
He then went (fled?) to Canada during the anti-war movement of the 60s, still a Cuban citizen.
That he may have crossed paths with other pro Castro activists is not a stretch at all.
