Just a thought, but it may be time for Freepers to stop opusing out and for Trump supporters at FR to stop demanding that. [Okay, it was always time for that, but after today’s voting, there’s a pretty good excuse too!] Assuming Trump wins today in Indiana, the primaries are effectively over.
It is time - well past time - for conservatives to unite. There is no point in the personal attacks against Cruz or his supporters (unless, of course, you’re a paid Hillary shill who wants to keep the Cruz voters home in November). There is no point in Cruz supporters to continue advocating for their candidate unless he wins in Indiana. Yes, he’s a good man and one of the most reliable conservatives alive, but he cannot be nominated unless something happens to Trump’s health (unlikely).
That time came for Perry supporters for three reasons: his awkwardness when speaking off the cuff, his weakness in connecting with voters, and . . . um . . . I forgot the other reason. No one advocates for Perry any more or attacks his supporters.
That time came for Walker supporters too. No one advocates for Walker any more or attacks his supporters.
That time has come for Cruz and his supporters and his detractors too. I agree with the Cruz supporters that he would be a great president, but that is no more relevant that Walker’s or Perry’s potential.
Cruz and Trump agree on 80% or more of the key issues (see the Ted Cruz voting record and his written positions, and Donald Trump’s written and oral statements for the past decade), and Cruz can no longer harm Trump’s chances at the nomination. It’s time for their supporters to treat each other as 80% friends, not as 20% enemies.
The prime imperative is a) saving the Republic by b) blocking Hillary.Supporters of Ted Cruz will find their standard bearer not at 1600 Pennsylvania taking the arrows from seventy-four Democrat members of the press corps, but either as Attorney General putting Hillary in Federal prison or on the Supreme Court reinstating the Constitution.
Donald Trump will be the candidate to thwart Medusa of the foreign money and Ameriphobia.
Politics is war by other means; the exchange has been rigorous.
Early on I envisioned a Trump-Cruz ticket, capable of such naivete even now.
On to Washington to clean the stable and rout the traitors and criminals.
Soon time to get the Lincoln & Lee on, bind up and all of that.
There is a wide historic front--bigger than one man can handle.
It will start on this forum, hopefully, he added, before December.
Believe me, I’ll vote for Trump if he gets the nod, because he offers something actually positive on immigration (sending them back for touchback, rather than hoping they’ll self-deport). He certainly beats the heck out of Milquetoast Mitt and Juan McCain.
