I agree. the vitriol on ALL sides in the election is the worst I have seen. Supporters are all at a all time low with the insults and nastiness.
I pray this nation will get the leader it needs in the next election, not the one it deserves.
I apprecieate your sensitivities, but I believe what you are witnessing is the release of years of pent up anti-PC correctness. For myself, I can tell you it's actually quite liberating; sharing what I'm really thinking ...even at the risk of a little offense along the way.
It's a give and take propostion, and that is driving the PC thought police nuts. I think it's fantastic!
Oh, by the way, if you study American election history, especially 100-150 years ago, you would actually find that, all things considered, today's political discourse is quite mild by comparison!
For example, about Abraham Lincoln it was said (or printed):
* He was a barbarian, Scythian, yahoo, or gorilla.
* He was rebuked for for his lack of refinement and called an unshapely man.
* Northern newspapers openly called for his assassination long before John Wilkes Booth pulled the trigger.
* He was called a coward, an idiot, and the original gorilla by the commanding general of his armies, George McClellan.
