“If you have been around since 2000, you should know that when the time comes we consolidate around the front runner in effort to defeat the Democrats. It hasn’t always worked out, but that is what is needed.”

Are you serious? Wasn’t Romney the front runner? I don’t recall to many people here rallying around Romney. In fact, if you supported him with to much fervor you were banned. The original poster is right. Free Republic is nothing but a shell of it’s former self. A lot of very good, thoughtful people were run off simply for disagreeing.

IF your candidate is so strong, and it’s ‘over’ as you claim- then you have nothing to worry about and no need for all the over the top over-reacting comments- but apparently you don’t really bleeive ‘it’s over’?

Trump is strong, but it's also a fact that he's up against a formidable unholy alliance of the Left, Media, GOPe, and Cruz campaign, the likes of which we've never seen before.

Donald Trump has been treated in such an over-the-top, slanted fashion, that there's not even the slightest semblance of balance or fairness.

The sooner that people unite behind the presumptive nominee, the better it will be for November.

You're stuck in the past with a total inability to accept the fact that your candidate has lost, and has become a caricature of the overly-ambitious would-be career politician.

The only thing Cruz can do right now is be counter-productive to the ultimate goal of defeating Hillary.

Ted Cruz is clearly an inferior candidate. That has been demonstrated in numerous ways.

It's you who can't face the reality which presents itself: Ted Cruz will not garner the GOP nomination under any circumstances.

It's time for Ted Cruz to suspend his campaign for the good of both the party and the country.

And that means that Cruz and his supporters should suspend their lies, and their hysterically warped view of who Donald Trump is.

Donald Trump is not the demonic monster that Cruz, the GOPe, the Left, the Media, and their ilk seek to portray him as.

If you believe that he is, then you should, at least temporarily, consider going to some other community that is happily cheerleading the attempted destruction of the presumptive nominee.

Your preferred candidate has lost the debate in both the nation, and in this community, over who is the better man for the job. I know that stings, but if you can't support Donald Trump, then you should keep that to yourself.

For bitter Cruz supporters to continue to viciously attack Donald Trump, and deride his supporters, serves no constructive purpose between now and November. We have Hillary and the GOPe for that.

Ted Cruz has lost. Get it through your thick skull and unite behind the real and deserving GOP nominee, Donald Trump.

Vote Trump

There has been no one banned that I know of for stating they supported any Republican candidate but some have been banned for saying they’d vote for the Rat.

Just so that others are not confused/misled....I'm at the kiddie table where all my posts have to be approved before being posted. I not only never said I'd vote for Hillary, but actually said I'd never vote for her. Nor have I ever said that I will not vote for Trump. In fact, I was arguing from the perspective of what Trump needed to do to bring the party together and maximize GOP support.

The point is, I believed I was on the right side of the line, and found out otherwise. I would suggest that those who wish to continue posting here be aware that you can get banned/suspended, or whatever even if you don't say you're not voting for Trump.

Just posting this as a courtesy to those FReepers who may not be fans of Trump but wish to continue posting here.

You may feel the primaries are over- many do not- many still feel Ted has a chance- and would be a better candidate-

Anyone who thinks Ted Cruz nominated by a contested convention would be a better candidate than Trump winning on the first ballot is as crazy as Alex Jones.

I don't think Cruz would have been stronger than Trump even if he'd won fair and square. But that ship has sailed. If Cruz is nominated now Trump voters won't accept him as a legitimate candidate.

Right there he loses 30% or more of Republican primary voters. Then there's his weakness in swing states. He lost FL, OH, PA and NH. He can't win the general election. It is known. Jim is right, by continuing to campaign Cruz is only helping Hillary. Helping Cruz is therefore helping Hillary.

Is that what Cruz supporters want to do?

Well, you're not banned and many times it's the way things are said. I still have not seen anyone banned just for stating they supported a Republican or didn't support Trump.

That consolidation was delayed, but it did happen before the general election. At one time I actually believed Romney could win. I still think he was a better candidate than Rick Santorum or Newt Gingrich, who would have been beaten like rented mules.

Judging by the hundred day FR caucus Trump is a lot more popular with conservatives than McCain or Romney (early in 2008 there was a FR poll showing 90% of freepers opposed him!), so he won't lose as many conservative voters as they did. We can win this one, the time to consolidate is now.

I suspect she’s a Cruz person... It’s sad because many of us were for Cruz before we switched to Trump... She needs to cool her heels.

There is a difference between consolidating our efforts around the front running and actively campaigning against him. Many of those banned were #NeverTrump or trashed Jim.

If you had joined FR more than a dozen years prior to when you did, you would have been privy to THE most indepth posts about the VAT, the FAIR TAX and the FLAT tax.

You may believe that you know exactly what Trump's tax plans are ( you don't ! ) and what Cruz's are.

The simple facts are these...Cruz wants a FLAT TAX that does NOT cover what the government needs for a barebones, elimination of almost every Department budget. And on top of THAT, he wants a VAT TAX, that will close almost every business, make almost everyone barely scraping by, as in Venezuela, and won't get rid of the IRS at all, but expand it, due to the VAT.

Re Trump....he was talking about himself, NOT about his tax plan, which is very much like Reagan's!

Just for the record and to be correct, there are not ever two parts to an Opus. the two taken together are an Opera

the plural of opus is Opera

We owe this lesson to the great Freeper One Who Knows
