There was a time in the not so recent past that a performance like Cruz performed on Meet the Press would be applauded

And there was a time where Cruz wasn't foaming at the mouth saying "Trump this ... vote for me I am not Trump ... Trump is a liberal". That is all that he seems to say now.

I firmly believe that had Trump not been in the race and the question didn't pertain to Trump but to Kasich or Rubio or Jeb Bush, Cruz would have been applauded for his performance. Same performance. Different names.
