I sorta don’t want a plane I’m on to blow up.

If it does, the bomb will have been planted not by one of the passengers, but by a baggage handler and any of a dozen other jobs where the employee has access to the aircraft (usually unrestricted) and who gets minimal back ground checking in the employment process.

Not to mention the fact that (as we saw in Brussels) the huge pool of passengers milling about security creates a perfect target for a bomber before even getting on the plane.

Recently flew through Newark after arriving from Europe: the security line snaked -twice- through the whole terminal to get on my flight-- barely made it.

Needless to say the "security" check was as cursory as possible because of the speed with which they were pushing people through the system.

So we have all the inconvenience and expense of "security" with no real effect.
