I saw Cruz on Fox several weeks ago and Wallace was so confrontational that at the end when Wallace said thank you for being on, Cruz just glared at the camera instead thanking back.
Powerful stuff bray!
You got right to the core of how Limbaugh is screwing up. We never wanted him to take sides but instead point out the good and bad of all candidates and then let us make the call. We never expected or wanted bias in our leadership yet that's what we are getting.
"Rush, the collective mind of Americans and especially Conservatives is extremely intelligent. Millions of Americans put together are what makes this country work and they have been weighing this race. They see which candidate is speaking to their frustration and which one will do what he says and they believe Trump is their man. He does not speak political speak, he speaks English; New Yawker English, but almost the same thing. He is not going to say one thing and then when he gets there say never mind it is too hard and we will just play along with the Democrats like has happened every other time including Bush. He talked Conservative and the first thing he does is teams up with Teddy Kennedy to destroy the education system and Medicare as a way to get along. They dont see that in Trump."
We do want a plain speaking leader to tell it like it is. A capitalist who has appeal not only to conservatives but to all freedom loving Americans from every stripe and it shows. The RNC has lusted for a candidate who could literally cross the aisle and have virtually universal appeal as Trump does. Now we get one and they do their best to destroy him as does Limbaugh. Shows there are other agendas. Sad day for the Republican Party.
Trump appeals to almost everyone and his victory over Hillary will be nothing short of a landslide. Too bad Rush didn't see the light.
Great post AB. Let’s hope your words become the rule.
I saw that segment too, and wondered if Cruz had lost sound, or was just showing pique.
Cruz's segment with Megyn Kelly late last week was confrontational too.
I don't expect Cruz to show anything new this morning, and predict the usual "most conservative in the race, Hillary and Trump are two sides of the same coin, Trump can't beat Hillary in the general, the party should unite behind Cruz" lines. Depending on the question, Cruz will claim Trump is anti-2nd amendment, for Obamacare, violent, bad for foreign policy and bad on the economy.
Seeing as how the general press theme since last week's races has been that Trump is the presumptive nominee, I don't see much else being raised - compared with past weeks when the focus has been on specific advertisements and issues (e.g., Lewandowski and Fields).

.@realDonaldTrump will WIN Indiana but GOP bosses give him ONE delegate of 27 http://StopTheSteal.com
For a Canadian, Lyin’ Ted sure channels a lot of hate & anger while demonstrating the typical sleaze of an attorney.
By contrast, Trump has a twinkle in his eye and seems to be enjoying the process while he’s working very hard to help save America.
Cruz’s Trump memes have lost traction and he’ll have to come up with something else this morning instead of the same-old, same-old.
Once he starts talking about bubba in response to hillary bashing him about the female vote Hillary will have no where to go. And if she doesn't chat about the female vote once again she has no where to go. You can only promise free stuff for so long before that gets old. Especially, with no money to pay for it all.
Zero has sabotaged his own party like no other socialist could do.
He might surprise with something new, but he does stick to his memes. I don't see him invoking any that don't involve Trump. The Cruz/Carly ticket's appeal has been sold as an antidote to Trump. Cruz might get challenged on naming a running mate given his position in the race, and that is the opening for "most conservative, proven track record" and "Trump/Hillary are two sides of the same disease" spiels.
At least at this point he has not argued that he can win on the first ballot, only that he can win on later ballots. In this stance, he pretty much has to contrast his prospects in the general with those of Trump, as well as claiming that Trump will destroy the GOP.
That's the way it looks now, but November is a long way off. Trump will have the press openly against him, and a good chunk of the GOP working to sabotage him.
-- Zero has sabotaged his own party like no other socialist could do. --
He did it in the open, and as far as I can tell, he fairly faithfully represents DEM values.
It may not change the race but it would give conservatives something to cheer about.
Something about his delivery. In a word, he comes off as "defensive." I figure most people don't recognize his misrepresentations as such, so there is no additional downside to repeating them. But he should spend less time (not zero time) on running down Trump.
-- By contrast, Trump has a twinkle in his eye and seems to be enjoying the process while he's working very hard to help save America. --
Yep. He's serious, but comfortable with it. A couple factors weigh strongly in his favor. He's leading, and he's not personally invested in the outcome the same way that his opponents are.
Good morning AB, All.
We begin by thanking AB for doing this thread, on to Bray for a contribution of weekly thoughtful wisdom, on to yon commenters who provide valuable feedback.
I went to the Delaware state Republican convention this past Friday for the dinner and Saturday as a delegate.
Heh.
Well yeah I got personal stuff going on but I shall surprise you all by beginning with a blurb about applicable politics.
We’ll not mention the leaking hot water heater and the toilet that won’t flush. Or the fact that I got them fixed, liberated and fashion-forward woman that I am. Or that I saw my plumber at the state convention.
Heh.
I am going to be writing all week about this experience, folks, on my Blog, because I learned so very much. So very, very much.
On Friday I attended the dinner but there was a cocktail hour before hand. Indeed I went by myself, again, liberated woman that I am. There was only one male type of person that paid me any attention. He was the guy who came to join me in a drink at one of those cool stand up tables. We talked and turns out he goes to my church. After a bit I excused myself to mingle. He told me he only came over because he needed a place to set down his plate of food.
Heh.
The speaker was a Benghazi survivor and I was riveted. What a story, people. Turns out that the ONLY people who came to rescue those still living on that roof top was .guess? THE LIBYANS!
Not a Swede, a German, a Norwegian .much less an American anywhere in sight.
Shameful tale of our country folks.
On Saturday we had the meeting and what a big mess.
Bear in mind that Delaware is an interesting state, however small we may be, in that is was OUR state that began the revolution against the establishment with our infamous Christine O’Donnell versus Mike Castle primary.
We no longer nominate candidates before the primary here in Delaware like the elite did with Mike Castle but we voted in Christine O’Donnell anyway, flipping them the bird .assholes.
What we do now is “endorse” candidates at the state convention and I still do not know why the hell we do this with the primary in September but I got some thoughts on the matter.
Also, our state chair, Charlie Copeland, I am told by reliable sources, is Mike Castle’s lover ..I am not making this up and cannot put this on my Blog post but I shall share the down and dirty with my fellow Freepers.
The way the state “endorses” candidates led to crazy results, some complaints .all this amidst calm calls for “unity”.
Heh.
Sussex county is the pit of hell as the northern Delaware elite see it, filled with Neanderthals that should be sent to Nebraska or some other place of hell on earth.
BUT ..heh, we got them beat in every category .93 from Sussex county, next up was 60 from Kent county and then they didn’t have enough delegates in attendance.
Anyway, I will stop now as I know it is mostly of local interest but I must add, for my ego, that almost everyone in that convention knew me, some even gasped in awe not that I deserve this.
Because I weekly do an analysis of the Delaware state legislature and guys, I make things happen.
I’ll end with one such example.
The Delaware legislature passed some kind of resolution to make giving student loans easier. Forget the verbiage they used but it annoyed me all to hell.
I wrote about my nephew, a nice young man, now in his 30’s, who took advantage of student loans and got himself a bunch of bucks when he was back in college, over a hundred thousand dollars in fact. He went to a college in Spain for whatever reason, he merrily signed the loan papers.
Now he is waiting tables and has lost his driver’s license due to unpaid student loans.
So I wrote on my Blog that the Delaware legislature shouldn’t be encouraging student loans as those young people don’t quite see the future requiring a payback.
HB349!!!!!
This week, put up for vote ..all students receiving student loans must attend a financial counseling course.
Or something.
I’m not sure of the phrasing but hey, those guys listen to me, and they want me to write nice things about them.
Ahhhhhh, my point being that citizens can more of an impact than I think they’ll ever know.
I will be here all day, yon readers, keep me apprised with fine and wise commentary.
Yes, it would. Toss Hillary into that target too.
-- It may not change the race but it would give conservatives something to cheer about. --
It would be a great step toward unifying the party, regardless of which of them got the nomination. Change the focus to the DEMs, and the primary will take care of itself, is the impression he wants to leave. He can sell himself as superior to Trump in a positive way.
I don't think it would work, he's created too much baggage for himself, and Trump has garnered too much popularity (and won too many races) already. Trump is looking and acting like a winner. Cruz would do better if he emulated that, but I don't believe he sees the competition that way.
I would love to see Cruz on the Supreme Court but he will never get nominated by Trump now.
America needs SCOTUS candidates that are true patriots, not Establishment Bushie convenient conservatives that are beholden to Goldman-Sachs and who knows who else and have a traitorous agenda of Heidi’s NO BORDERS for North America Union.
Lyin CanuckTed who sealed his records like Obamatollah on SCOTUS and continues to cheat and act unethically?
SCOTUS? Not just no....but HELL NO!
Why not?
I still think Trump and Cruz can bury the hatchet and move on.
They’re grown men, not babies. Besides, this is politics. For Trump, this is like a business deal. Some you win, some you don’t. No reason to be bitter.
We’re all spun up in the heat of the campaign, but later things will cool down and reason will once again take hold.
The fact is, Trump, as the nominee, will NEED Cruz on his side. By this time he will be focusing on defeating Hillary and the MEDIA. He’ll need EVERYONE.
I hope #NEVERTRUMP dies soon!
Exactly! Dem values now are socialist, morphing inot communist, never acceptable to the general population of voters in the US.
We NEED everyone aboard in order to beat Hillary!!!
