As I diplomatically told a Cruz supporter the other day that this time is not his time. He needs to simmer for a while longer (cooking reference). Yes, I said, I like Cruz’s stated positions, but this cycle is not his.
Cruz should understand that. Look at Sen. Paul. A darling for a short time early in the cycle. He looked at the chances and saw that this time is not his. He bowed out. There were a lot of positions of Rand Paul’s that I like. Especially his positions regarding privacy from government snooping. On much of this I disagree with Trump’s stated positions on the matter
If Rand sticks around for awhile, he might very well be a president, in fact if Trump picked him as Veep, I would be pleased, but Rand is also a one term senator right now so that may cross him off Trump’s list.
I think Trump liked Rand. Yeah, they had a tit for tat but I don’t think Trump took it seriously. Rand has stated that Trump would make an awful CiC, but then again that was while he was running so its a fair comment.
Anyway, rambling here...to end, I would just say that its not Cruz’s time this go around. I do hope that he doesn’t spoil it for any chance he may have in the future, but his behavior in the later part of these campaigns makes me think that he has by becoming the vessel for the GOPe lock stock and barrel. Too bad. He could have been a contender.
I have said many times that I don’t think Rand would make a good President, but I sure wish we had many more of him in the Senate.
Tourist asking a (...fill in your favorite nationality here...)...for directions....
Answer:...Well...if I was going there I wouldn't be starting from here now would I...?
I agree. Aside from Rand’s haircut, I like him. His positions were clear, concise, and are good for America. His debate ratings were much lower than they should have been. I’d have ranked him near the top in every debate.
