Hundreds of supporters of Shi'ite Muslim cleric Moqtada al-Sadr stormed into Baghdad's Green Zone and broke into the Iraqi parliament building.
The protesters, who had gathered outside the heavily fortified district, known as the Green Zone, crossed a bridge over the Tigris River chanting: 'The cowards ran away!' in apparent reference to departing lawmakers before breaking into the parliament building.
The staggering scenes came after Sadr denounced Iraq's politicians' for their failure to reform a political quota system blamed for rampant corruption.

Followers of Muqtada al-Sadr (aka Mookie; Doughboy). Keep an eye on this one.
Mookie does the bidding of Iran. If his supporters overrun the Iraqi government, Iran is the beneficiary. The Saudis, Jordanians, etc. won’t be able to let that pass
That it was for nothing was decided long before the first Marine crossed the starting line in March of 2003.
I posted THIS on September 13, 2001, and within 72 hours Idiot Bush had made his decision to fight a Vietnam War in South Asia (my option #2), as I predicted he would.
What does a "Vietnam war" mean in this context? It means, we take casualties to demonstrate that we are serious, but we refuse to conquer to demonstrate that we are not mean.
This feminine sort of warfighting has never accomplished a single useful thing anywhere, ever, and yet the entire Uniparty is wedded to it.
Hundreds?!
Surely, nothing more than suppressing fire would be enough to wipe out such an advance. Oh...wait....the current ROE say that our troops aren't allowed to kill anyone who MIGHT be a muslim. Oh well.
Heard the same thing when I was in Vietnam: “hearts & minds”.
In 1972 ROE was weapons hold (do not fire unless fired upon). For us in the Slicks that was normal, but it meant the Cobra drivers might have to take a Strela-7 up the exhaust (”toilet bowl” deflectors were supposed to solve the IR problem).
War waged by politicians seldom succeeds.
They are all cowards. If they refuse to protect themselves and their country—to hell with every one of them. We should not lose another American life for these scum.
“. If they refuse to protect themselves and their country”
“Iraq” is an imaginary country.
My experience with Iraqis is that they will embrace democracy as long as you are holding their hand and showing them the way. But the minute you let them go on their own they go right back to where they were before. They are generally lazy and want “someone” to provide for them. They constantly bitch to the government about what they need but won’t get off their butts and make it happen. Even their “elected” officials look to the US and ask what they should do.
Hopefully President Trump will not make the same mistake LBJ and Bush made.
