“It’s Limbaugh’s program, and he can do with it as he likes. The program is all about his opinion. If “Trumpists” don’t like it, there are other places they can go, but at least, in Rush’s case, the structure of his program doesn’t give him any sort of power to punish them for nonconformity; they can listen or not listen as the case may be. If his attitude harms him financially, why, that’s something he appears willing to cope with.

Rush has NOT been “straddling the fence” - just pretending to (and not very well).
He has had NOTHING but praise for Ted Cruz - calling him the “ideal conservative” and reading every pro-Cruz article he can get his hands on. Conversely, he mocks Trump’s speeches, laughs at callers who support him, and reads every anti-Trump article he can. His disdain for Trump and man-crush on Cruz is evident in every word he says.
Even the other day, when he engaged in some anti-Trump propaganda by playing Ted Cruz’s comparisons of Trump to Hillary, Rush couldn’t bring himself to admit that some of Cruz’s points were out and out lies (actually, I think ALL of them were out and out lies - because Cruz seems incapable of telling anything resembling the truth these days), but even the OBVIOUS ones just left Rush speechless. He couldn’t say “Cruz is full of it.” He COULDN’T attack “his guy.”
At least Levin and Beck, dumb-asses that they are, have the integrity to actually tell you their opinions. If “the program is all about [Rush’s] opinion,” as you say, he’s done a poor job of it, since he pretends to be some shade of neutral, but doesn’t have the honesty to come out and actually tell you he’s in the tank for Teddy.
Cruz is the fall back guy for the GOP. They may not like his pushiness but he is all they have. Hehehe. :^)
That's what he wants you to believe, but it is, and has been since "Cotherine" entered the picture: time killing phone calls, ice tea scams, Rush Revere reviews/commercial and slanted promotion of whatever project/position/personality currently is in his/GOPe favor.
What he's doing is his business, you're right, it's his gig. But knock of the horsechit about the "Doctor of Democracy" and "America's Truth Detector".
He is now, and has been for quite awhile, a paid hack.
