GOP Elites Reaching 'Acceptance Phase' for Donald Trump
NBC News ^ | Apr. 29, 2016 | Benjy Sarlin

With Donald Trump's path to the nomination looking wider by the day, a number of top Republicans are signaling their willingness to support his candidacy — even some who have fiercely criticized him in the past.

This softening opposition indicates that the GOP establishment is reaching the "acceptance stage" of the grieving process, even as Sen. Ted Cruz and his new running mate Carly Fiorina try to mount a last stand in Indiana.

The shift reflects the intensity of loathing for Cruz among elements of the party as much as it does their begrudging acceptance of Trump.

I noticed that Ted couldn’t even respond to Boehner without whining about Trump.

I’ll just be glad after Tuesday so I don’t have to hear that nasally whining and lying every commercial break.

40% of the GOP is not going to vote for Trump. Most democrats flocking to Trump in the primaries will return without hesitation to right to Hillary in November. Trump folks set the house of GOP on fire. Congrats you are inheriting a gutted ruin. Good luck beating the local dog catcher with that.

The GOP was a flaming pile of sh** long before Trump got on the scene.

“40% of the GOP is not going to vote for Trump”

I think most Republicans are not that stupid, to help elect Hillary.

The GOP is dead to me. They have given Obama everything he wants. If they want to get on board now, fine and dandy. But, if not, get out of our way. We are done playing games. We want our country back and we have someone who is willing to fight for it. Go Trump!

Trump’s biggest struggles will begin after he wins the WH. Neither party will work with him. He, like Reagan, will have to go directly to the American people. And Like Reagan, he will succeed.

I probably agree with DT 20% of the time. I agree with Hillary 0% of the time. No contest. Go Trump.

Pretty sad what has happened to Cruz. Should have stayed in the Senate.

There was a time I would have agreed about Cruz.

Now I just want bad things to happen to him.

100% of the GOP will not vote for Cruz because he won't be the nominee.

Sanctimonious, arrogant GOP leaders in their DC bubble world, are 100% responsible for this mess. Blaming the Trump voters for voting for the GOP front-runner is absurd.

Picking a loser and then projecting your loss onto others, claiming that Trump voters are responsible for the destruction of a process that produced Trump as the nominee, is not the "fault" of those voters, anymore than your voting for Cruz caused his loss.

Trump recently said that some who have been attacking him have now come asking to work for his campaign. I hope he doesn’t take any of them, because they will stab him in the back the way Romney’s people did to McCain and Palin in 2008. Whoever Trump takes on from now on have to be vetted extremely well, or he’ll be in big trouble.

I wouldn’t put it past the neo-con artists to try and plant their traitorous leeches in his campaign in order to disrupt and destroy it from within.
