Well, that wasn’t very clear.
What I meant was that it seems as though if Cruz Sr. had applied for Canadian citizenship, it wouldn’t be a big stretch to suppose that Mrs. Cruz applied at the same time.
They started a business there, had a family there, and appeared to want to be permanent citizens - as is demonstrated by Cruz Sr applying for, and gaining, Canadian citizenship. I found it odd that Cruzs campaign had made a comment (early on) that it wouldn’t even matter IF CRUZS MOM HAD BEEN A CANADIAN CITIZEN/VOTED IN CANADA because “all that mattered” was that she started out as a US citizen, so Ted was a US citizen. Boggles the mind.
Cruzs’ mom had been married and living in England for about six years before she met Cruz Sr.. Actually, she and Husband #1 were divorced after about three years of marriage, but she continued to live in England -UNTIL after she had a child out of wedlock. That infant boy died under the age of one year, and shortly after she moved to Texas. (The English birth and death records list her ex-husband as the father. He learned of the illegitimate child because coincidentally he was in the hospital at the same time the child was born! He quietly and kindly permitted the subterfuge)
Within less than a year of landing in TX she and Cruz Sr were in Canada, starting up a business.
Cruz lied in his book BTW, and claimed that his mom and her first husband were the parents of the child she had birthed in England, and the death of the child was the reason her first marriage failed. Bull pucky.
The Cruzs were divorced when Ted was a tween.
Thank you. Seems to explain a lot.
