Some months ago I looked at both Cruz and Trump as acceptable candidates, even though they are very different.

Cruz has run a horrific campaign since then and many of his supporters need someone to blame. Cruz has only himself to blame.

So they blame Trump and anyone who will vote for him.

There are people who sit out every election, it’s not important. 35% of the electorate always sits out.

This Neil guy thinks policy talk matters. He’s way out of the loop and has no clue what’s going on.

And you’re not already disappointed that Cruz has revealed himself to be a Uniparty establishment shmuck?

Thank you, I've had a long day and don't feel like typing that much. But you said what I would have said anyway.

Cruz is the biggest fraud since P.T. Barnum's, Jo-Jo the Dog-Faced Boy.

Yes and he has that knack with politicians, too!

Some folks can’t deal with the truth that we’ve been manipulated and lied to for years by “conservative” career politicians...

What this entire political season has shown us is that "some folks can't deal" with the fact their best, deepest, most convinced opinions are WRONG, and when forced to face that fact turn into nasty, petulant brats every bit as vindictive and malicious as the liberals they despise.

>> Then you haven’t been paying attention these last nine months.

You got it, Windy.

We were all having a good time until the pissants decided to pick a fight.

And what exactly is their problem? Indelicacy?

I’m guessing the antagonists prefer the security of the Establishment.

“We have a chance to nominate the most conservative nominee since Calvin Coolidge.”

Do you really think Ted would be losing by Millions of votes if he we’re truly “the most conservative” candidate in the race? Really?

Open your eyes. The man is being roundly rejected by Republican voters for a reason. He’s not all he’s cracked up to be, and voters see it. So should you.

People just get too emotionally invested in their candidates.

Very true. Not all people, but seemingly most. And once the investment has been made it's almost impossible to view politics objectively.

Saw it happen around here with Dubya, and it persisted all the way to '06, ending (for the most part) only after the disastrous midterms of that year. His impotent "hearts and minds" war, his importation of 200,000+ Muslims annually (which Obama has of course continued), and his refusal to protect the borders were all met with lame excuse after lame excuse for years by those whose emotional investment in him was high.

It’s been a brutal primary, that’s for sure.

I think the root of the problem is the depth of the anger people feel toward the government, but also towards the GOP for not doing what we sent them to do.

So now conservatives have had it and one group thinks that Trump is the solution to this, and others think that Cruz is the only solution to this, and both think that the guy that they do not support is a continuation of business as usual.

I don’t think that either man is the magic silver bullet that we are looking for, but for different reasons.

I do think that Cruz is not who he poses as. I do believe that he is of the GOPE, and what he did was he ran against the establishment and pretended to oppose them in order to advance his own career, and it worked.

Based upon things that I have seen him do starting with the Corker Bill and into this primary, I don’t believe he is on the level.

Trump, even though I like him very much for being not a politician, also does not fully understand, I believe, just how dangerous and malignant our government has become. I view our government as a malignant cancer, and I don’t think he sees it that way.

Nonetheless, I do believe that Trump is honest and honorable, and means and does what he says, so I am willing to give Trump a shot where I am not willing to give people who are of the GOPE a shot any longer.

Unfortunately, conservatives of both camps are now clashing, and we will either be able to come together, or we won’t.

I can’t see any reason to support Cruz any longer. He has proven that he cannot win this without a contested convention, and that is a place that I do not want to go, because that takes the power out of voters hands and puts it back in the hands of the GOPE.

I don’t see Cruz as being worth that risk.

That is where I am at on this.

Hi Neil,

I feel much the same way. A New York liberal is not my idea of a conservative candidate and I will not vote for one. A couple of years ago anyone who claimed Trump was going to be the conservative’s champion would have been laughed off the board. Trump hasn’t changed. Many of the people here have.

So after more than 18 years of being a member of what is supposed to be a conservative constitutionalist Web site for people who have those principles in common I’m also done with it. It has left me.

Goodbye to all.

Between post #1 and Post #2 you’ve managed to do an awful lot of typing. In fact so much that I do not believe in a heartbeat that it was possible. Your complete presentation spells nothing less than a lifetime of nonsense. I wasted much time reading your diatribe but I’m glad I did because it proves to me that there are some real sore losers in our beloved USA. I hope you find peace in yourself someday.

I already am in Cruz. I’m not going to pick a rotten apple over a healthy apple just because it might go rotten too.

Personally, I am very grateful to both Trump and Cruz for exposing the GOPe.

In what way has Cruz exposed the GOPe? Hell, he's depended on the GOPe and back-room shenanigans to keep him in the race, which, frankly, he should not be in since he has no mathmatical way forward.

I think what we have learned clearly through this process is that Cruz is not anything like he was presenting himself. As far as I'm concerned, he is condescending, preaches at others, cannot talk like normal human beings, cannot be depended on to tell the truth, and he is establishment to the core; just more sneaky than most.

If Cruz wins the nomination and lose the general I will own it.

Gee, that makes us all feel so much better.

Hey, I have an idea!

How about we run the best candidate in the field?

How about we run the best candidate, a man who can make demographic inroads that Ted Cruz could only dream of?

How about we run the best candidate and actually create an inclusive, principled "big tent" lkike the leadership is always talking about, and in doing so relegate the Democrat party to minority status for years to come?

How about we run the best candidate, who already has almost twice the delegates if Cruz, in addition over 3 million votes more cast for him than for Ted Cruz?

How about we run the best candidatee who is the clear choice of the People, who merits the nomination hands down?

If you somehow think the dynamic is suddenly going to change, or unicorns will start farting skittles that make the GOP electorate forget everything that has happened over the last year, then you're so detached from political reality that you've become an unwitting dupe of the corrupt GOPe.

Vote Trump
