No, not Jeff! We need him to represent Alabama!
Yeah, it’s a tough one, plucking an effective governor or senator out of the job in which they are so effective, and putting them into the largely ceremonial VP slot. That’s why Mitt (no longer a governor) and Ryan (who wanted him to stay in the senate?) were an ideal ticket in 2012. ;’)
I suspect we’ll wind up with a Latina on the ticket, and probably not someone currently on the radar; that would check off two boxes on the ridiculous diversity checklist, and would also bring the hypocrisy of the Demagogic Party and its supporters right up into the foreground.
The four largest states are CA, FL, TX, and NY, and a Latino or Latina (depending on whom it is of course) would help Trump in all four places, as well as in a number of smaller states, including midrange ones like Michigan. Holland MI was (as you might have suspected) a Dutch community; we have lots of orchards and berry and produce farms in western Michigan, so we’ve got a long history of seasonal migrant farm labor. When I was in elementary school, those folks would be from southern states, but latino labor started to pop up in local orchards (they built migrant housing as well, nothing too glamorous) and such.
Once they got a look at the place, more and more often they stopped living here seasonally. Holland MI, for whatever reason, has wound up a heavily hybrid town.
