With plea bargains most felons don’t serve anything near what they should for the misery and suffering they cause to others.
But leaving that aside, if a felon has turned his life around and been a good citizen he can apply to have his voting rights reinstated.
The problem is the career criminals who should not be voting.
I agree. This is another example of a problem that, if social conservatism had been adhered to, we would not be experiencing the problem at all.
I would put in a poison pill for Democrats: have the legislation be that a former felon who has his voting rights restored ALSO gets his gun rights restored.

You mean EX-felon (aka Citizen). As we don’t have a caste system here, they are (should be) afforded the same (inalienable) Rights as any other Citizen.

Correction: Career criminals should still be in jail. The voting issue thus being moot.
