nothing good comes from people living in a state of intoxication either from booze or drugs...

The issue is that prohibition DOES NOT STOP people from abusing drugs/booze. I can step out right now and buy any drug I want for a high price. Hell, you can even buy drugs in PRISON where everyone is cavity searched.

The only thing this policy does is create a black market and violent crime over the huge artificial profits. The crime is ALL due to the money involved from this black market. Eliminate the insane prices/profits and you’ll eliminate the crime. Why would an addict steal if they can get drugs for pennies? Why would dealers fight if there are no profits?

We already learned this lesson during alcohol prohibition. They couldn’t stop entire truckloads of booze and speakeasies re-opening on every block. Now we have drugs where a small brick made in a basement for pennies and hidden in someone’s shoe can get 100 people high for days. NO WAY can you put a dent in such a profitable easily-hidden market.

The reason is because this crime has no victim to report it and people are willing to spend more on drugs than gold. You can do some enforcement but it will barely scratch the iceberg due to how hidden the market is. There will ALWAYS be a drug supply as long as people have some privacy/freedom in this world.

After pointlessly spending over $1 Trillion and 40 years on the WOD, it is obvious there are only two real options to actually reduce drug use:

1) Eliminate freedom/privacy and monitor everyone 24/7 with cameras and mics

2) Create a legal drug market that undercuts criminals and uses the profits for education and addiction treatment. Rather than enriching cartels and turning non-violent people into sick animals (by sticking addicts in prisons and letting them use dirty street drugs)
