HAGERSTOWN, MD
Hagerstown /ˈheɪɡərztaʊn/ is a city in Washington County, Maryland. It is the county seat of Washington County, and by many definitions, the largest city in a region known as Western Maryland. The population of Hagerstown city proper at the 2010 census was 39,662, and the population of the Hagerstown-Martinsburg Metropolitan Area (extending into West Virginia) was 269,140.
In 1739, Jonathan Hager, a German immigrant from Pennsylvania and a volunteer Captain of Scouts, purchased 200 acres (81 ha) of land in the Great Appalachian Valley between the Blue Ridge and Allegheny Mountains in Maryland and called it Hagers Fancy. In 1762, Hager officially founded the town of Elizabethtown which he named after his wife, Elizabeth Kershner. Fourteen years later, Jonathan Hager became known as the "Father of Washington County" after his efforts helped Hagerstown become the county seat of newly created Washington County which Hager also helped create from neighboring Frederick County, Maryland. The City Council changed the community's name to Hager's-Town in 1813 because the name had gained popular usage, and in the following year, the Maryland State Legislature officially endorsed the changing of the towns name.

His maternal grandfather, whom he was names for ( Phineas Taylor ) was a VERY prominent pol and a member of the Whig party.
I live in the next town over from where he was born and grew up ( his parent's house still stands and I drive past it a lot, to get from here to there) and where his ancestors are buried. So when we moved here, as I always do, I started to study up on the are and discovered that I was nearby to an historical figure that I have always been interested in. :-)
P.T. also once started and wrote for a local newspaper, he wrote 5 or more books, one an auto-bio and one on how to make money. He was also the man who brought Jenny Lind to America and set up her performances, was a great philanthropist, and NEVER said :A SUCKER IS BORN EVERY MINUTE."!
Keep the faith my old Friend!

On the Fox Report earlier this evening, Harris Faulkner had John Roberts on and he said that the RNC might try to “run out the clock” in Cleveland and then even hold a second GOP convention after the dems in late August to nominate their choice!!! Can you believe the idea of holding two conventions this summer and totally writing off the entire primary season results?!
The RNC is utterly out of their minds and ought to be committed to an insane asylum!!
The RNC is a criminal enterprise! They are proving it every day!
The savory one! I thought it sounded really good!
Click her name in the list and see!
