The United States’ historical role is as the leading edge of Western civilization. Our roots come from Western nations in Europe - not the savage backwaters of Asia - and our comparables must be taken from those nations - the UK, France, Netherlands, Spain, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Italy, Denmark, Norway, Portugal and Greece, as well as similarly-situated nations like Canada and Australia. With proper comparables the numbers for government violence in the US are off the charts. This institutionalized violence is a profound contributor to the debasement of our country, and if you do see things like fatherless families and high taxes and government interference in private affairs as problems, this is a major root cause and needs to be addressed. Sanely, not with a “burn the witches” approach.
