We live in the sticks. Have been composting for the past
30 yrs.; so the soil in the garden is top notch. We eat
leftovers, even give some to the dog. Husband used to
weedeat the sides of our long driveway; finally quit that
when I told him I wanted it to look natural instead of
manicured. We use little electricity. Have more modern
energy saving appliances now. I was raised on dried beans
& potatoes; so am not picky. We don’t travel as much as we
used to; it cramps up my joints. Husband gardens a little
(organic). This is as green as I can manage. :o)
Oh yeah. I forgot the wood stove, (we cut our own from the
place). Also, the big trees around the house keep it cooler
in summer. Can’t stand it too hot or too cold either.
LOL! No doubt the “true” greenies would look down on you. You’re not spending nearly as much as you ‘should’ to help save the erf.
I hear ya. Good setup at your place. We are moving out much farther in the near future. Right now we have raised beds and container veggies in the side yard, a small chicken coop off the back deck with our little pals supplying colored eggs everyday and eating the weeds and bugs in the back yard. We keep a helluva woodpile and during the cold months run the fireplace day and night til bedtime which keeps the gas and electric bills down. I make homemade bread which Mr. GG2 dies for and we cook all our food from scratch except for pizza night once in awhile. You do what you can with what you have.
