I just found this audio-only recording of Manafort’s meeting with the RNC committee in Florida this week. The audio quality isn’t great and there are slides that we can’t see, but he makes it clear that Trump is running AS the Republican Party candidate not against the Republican Party, and that he is expanding the party’s base and helping the RNC and state parties he not only will win the Presidency but will help other Republican candidates.
He agrees with Cruz that a fractured convention is not good for the party and that’s why their goal is to “put this thing away” before the convention in the traditional way, and draws comparisons between today and where Reagan was at this point in the 1980 cycle.
It’s 33 minutes and I’m still listening to it, but I think it’s worth the time as we seldom get this kind of inside-baseball look at the process:

Forgot to add, Trump will be making a big (yuge and series!) policy speech next. Wed. on foreign policy at the National Press Club. This will be part of the intentional pivot from the big and brash campaign trail persona to the businessman persona that hasn’t been as apparent to many people.
Paul Manafort tells the RNC insiders that while Hillary’s negatives are due to character flaws, Trumps are related to the public persona that some peole have objected to, and that they are much more easily brought down by exposing more of the “presidential” Trump.
As fun as the rallies are, I think we all are anxious for the world to see the serious and thoughtful policy-oriented side of Trump.
Develop a sense of inevitability, create some Trumpmentum, some press.

For such a small number of Cruz supporters, they sure post a lot of articles trashing Trump. I will just ignore them. Cruz people see it all going away. Its too bad that Trump did not smother Cruz in the crib back in Iowa.
