With the death Thursday of Prince Rogers Nelson, you may see a strange mix on your Facebook feed of sex and religion.
Thats because perhaps one of the raunchiest, steamiest pop culture figures in the past quarter-century was a conservative Christian. Religious and spiritual themes ran through a huge amount of his work, including this tiny sampling of lyrics:

God came to earth and saw people sticking it wherever and doing it with whatever, and he just cleared it all out, he told the magazine. He was, like, Enough.
Like I said in an earlier post, I went to one of his after parties and if not for the way he was dressed he would have been the most unassuming person there. I don’t even think he drank alcohol.
[[I dont think that or any illicit drugs were involved. The one time I was at his after party, I did not see him drink.]]
Fox reporting he was hospitlaized for drug overdose days earlier
He was a JW. His studio is a mile away from my office. He was riding his bike on Saturday. He’ll be missed.
He was conservative but not a Christian. He was JW
That may be the case, but he seemed straight edge when I saw him.
If so, that’s sad.
Apparently he had hip problems and got hooked on painkillers.
He continued to do the high heels dancing, but it was apparently painful.
“When all the facts come out...
In all probability, another dead junkie.”
Not too many years ago, they reported that the number One symptom of cardiovascular disease was Instant Death.
There was a long distance runner named Jim Fix, who wrote articles and books in the 70s and 80s. He died soon from heart failure.
My FIL was misdiagnosed with bursitis, when in fact it was heart disease, from which he died in a short time.
That is my “off the top of my head” guesstimate. Prince was 57, not 37. He is African American. They have higher incidence of cardio disease.
Supposedly he was highly intelligent. But maybe he felt good, so stayed away from doctors.
An autopsy is being performed.
“Apparently he had hip problems and got hooked on painkillers.”
Damn, the pain killers. Around 6 years ago I wrecked my shoulder in a bike crash. Lots of pain and no ability to sleep as laying down was the most painful position. Took pain killers for a while and then flushed them just when I started to crave them.
The pain in the shoulder lasted for more than a year, but it was better than slipping into addiction.
Prince was a Conservative Christian; Trump is a Conservative Republican.
I do not think that word means what you think it means.
Darling Nikki? Little Red Corvette? Gospel Music???
coudl be- saw a video of soem dude that worked with him and prince was limping a bit- the dude asked what was wrong, and he said ‘nothing- just a knee issue-’ or something along that line
It anti hard getting addicted to pain meds- was on hydrophone for about 3 years- it started getting to be a pain trying ot get prescriptions because of all the new regulations, so i went cold turkey and quit smoking at same time...... WOW! it was hell on earth- for about 6 weeks- I didn’t even realize i was that addicted to them- You just get used to being doped up I guess- and don’t realize how doped up you really are- Opioids are an awful drug- except i n extreme cases of pain I suppose- MOST people aren’t in extreme pain though- and neither was i- while they did help with what pain i had, I certainly wasn’t chairbound because of severe pain- Wish i had never started them really-
Yes, I understood he was a Jehovah Witness as well....also reports now he was treated for a drug overdose at the emergency room days before which was why his plane was turned around...treated on the tarmac then on to the hospital.
“Really? I never heard that or saw him with any female. He never married. I consider him as a nothing.”
Wrong. Married twice.

“Prince resided near Minneapolis at the time of his death.[186] Over the years Prince was romantically linked with many celebrities, including Kim Basinger, Madonna, Vanity, Sheila E., Carmen Electra, Susanna Hoffs, Anna Fantastic,[13] Sherilyn Fenn,[187] and Susan Moonsie of Vanity 6 and Apollonia 6.[188] Prince was engaged to Susannah Melvoin in 1985.[189] When he was 37, he married his 22-year-old backup singer and dancer Mayte Garcia on Valentine’s Day 1996. They had a son named Boy Gregory on October 16, 1996, who was born with Pfeiffer syndrome and died a week later.[190] Prince and Mayte divorced in 1999. In 2001, Prince married Manuela Testolini in a private ceremony; she filed for divorce in May 2006.[191]”
Yep...Toxology report in a couple weeks. Even then they might cover for him.
I heard he did build community centers and playgrounds years ago (I’m not joking here, this is not satire), and never would take credit.
He always did it through intermediaries to avoid having his name related to it.
I heard this because I am a contractor who fits pipe, and I know someone who did a couple of these projects (re-builds on women’s shelters near/in the Twin Cities) who told me Prince was the backer through another developer.
I always assumed it was true, I had no reason to doubt the guy, and I really never knew who Prince was other than hearing the name on the TV at various times.
I have heard of several celebrities who have done things similar, and they have always impressed me when they go through lengths to make sure they never get credit. That to me is impressive and noteworthy.
His personal life? I have no idea. But anonymous philanthropy says measures about a person.
ROTFLMAO!
“Yep...Toxology report in a couple weeks. Even then they might cover for him.”
Can you explain to me a reason they would want to “cover for him?”
Do you know if he had a drug addiction problem? That is quite common in creative fields, but many artists got sober, or never had a problem.
Sober musicians include Clapton, Elton John, Bonnie Raitt, Ringo Starr, Paul Williams, Stevie Ray Vaughan (at the time of his death).
The age 27 crowd died from drugs/alcohol.
My money is on cardiovascular problems, possibly undiagnosed.
“But anonymous philanthropy says measures about a person.”
Yeah and or seems he gave away millions.
That is selfless, wanting to help others while not needing to take the credit and build up your ego.
