Donald Trumps victory in New York stonewalled Ted Cruzs path to clinching the Republican nomination, making it increasingly difficult to block the GOP front-runner.
The Never Trump forces are pledging to play in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and other states in the Northeast next week, but the prospect for another momentum shift wont likely come until next month, with races in Indiana and Nebraska, and eventually California in June. The immediate calendar leaves lots of room for Trump to gain steam.
A key part of the problem, strategists say, is that the focus of the effort has been stopping the front-runner instead of promoting an alternative candidate. The movement never truly coalesced around Cruz, and the senators endorsements from reluctant Republican colleagues underscored the difficulty his campaign has in engendering excitement for him. Meanwhile, John Kasich now feels emboldened by the notion that Cruz can no longer win the nomination outright. But he and Cruz will be fighting over similar turf in a way that might benefit Trump.
Theres been this Weve got to stop Trump, but not an equal amount of enthusiasm for Lets get behind Cruz to do that, says John Brabender, a GOP strategist and former adviser to Rick Santorums campaign.

That may be so.
However, the Pro-Trump forces face an even greater challenge to win the election should their candidate secure the GOP nomination.
Rush “penis and testicles” Limbaugh is certainly feeling it.
Based on what?
Every poll I’ve seen shows HRC beating the crap out of him.
DT has, by far, the highest negative rating of any candidate, Democrat or Republican, currently running for POTUS.
Not to worry. In this media-driven age, the one who gets the biggest crowds wins. Obama got bigger crowds than Romney. Trump gets bigger crowds that anyone in history.
I recall George McGovern had enormous crowds in 1972.
Bernie Sanders also gets yuge crowds too, much bigger than HRC. But HRC gets more votes.
I would agree that DT has an enthusiastic following.
I would disagree that they are the majority of the overall US electorate.
Trump will be the next President of the United States.
Trump will out her in every way.
Just like when he started his campaign jaws will drop, people will shudder and then realize Trump is dead on.
Hillary's weapon is the PC Gatling gun
Trump doesn't cowar.
She will lose.
May be a though road, but thank heavens it got Yuge shot in the arm today by Trump himself.
With the path to 1237+ shaky as it is, I hope this makes the difference to get back to sane Conservatism, and away from populism/Trumpism.
Apparently many of the anti-Trump forces are right now stuck in the middle of restroom wars!
SMH
It will be a mud fest and a food fight for sure.
DT has gotten a free ride so far from the media.
FNC has been actively promoting his campaign. Trump is on Fox & Friends just about every morning and on the O’Reilly Factor, Hannity, or Greta just about every evening.
You are aware that the media wants Trump to win the GOP nomination because they know HRC can beat him.
After Trump secures the GOP nomination, it will be a different ball game and the media will turn on Trump with a vengeance. All except FNC.
If Trump was such a disastrous candidate for the GOP, the mainstream media would be saying great things about him and how he is the Democrats worst nightmare, etc.
Since they are shouting all these warnings about him, they actually fear him.
Cruz is delusional. Seriously insane.
What is more likely?
The left put out polls showing Trump losing to Hillary so they can convince the other side to pick the candidate the left believe Hillary will actually lose to.
OR
The left put out polls showing Trump losing to Hillary so the other side can adjust and pick the candidate that can beat Hillary.
“DT has, by far, the highest negative rating of any candidate, Democrat or Republican, currently running for POTUS.”
Have to keep something in mind. When they talk about Trump’s negatives they include women as a separate group. With Hillary, that doesn’t seem to apply to men. I a pretty certain that unless your wife/girlfriend is a Hillary supporter, chances are good men despise Hillary as much as women detest Trump.
The polls are right showing that Trump will lose badly to HRC in the general election this November.
That’s why the media is supporting Trump for the GOP nomination right now.
Get a clue.
see 15. Bingo!
“Get a clue.”?
Get and instict.
According to most of the polls I’ve seen,
DT’s overall negative ratings among the general population is about 65-70%
Among women about 75%
Among young people under 40, about 80%.
Among Hispanics about 80%.
Among blacks about 90%.
I don’t know how you win a national election with numbers like this.
