Why should he? YOU have absolutely no hold on him. He already has your vote; he couldn't care less what you think of him.
Politicians want exactly two things from us: our money and our votes. And most of us don't have enough money for that to matter, so it's down to the vote. A politician who is guaranteed your vote doesn't care what you think of him, or what body part you're holding when you vote. He already has all he wants.
