There is only a certain amount of time and Trump is spending his where he thinks it will have the best chance of advancing his campaign. If he doesn’t win he cannot Make America Great Again.
That’s the bottom line, winning for America. Second guessing from the sidelines that Tump could have done X or Y is nonproductive and mean spirited. Its said not out of a real knowledge about what else would have had to be left undone to visit those states but out of a desire to make Trump look bad/incompetent/or whatever the meme of the day is.
Just like saying Cruz is playing by the rules ignores the fact that Cruz’s actions pervert the process and disenfranchise the voters.
“There is only a certain amount of time and Trump is spending his where he thinks it will have the best chance of advancing his campaign.”
I am a Cruz delegate to Washington State. Based on what I have heard, I think the delegates will be overwhelmingly for Cruz.
However, the delegates to the Ohio Convention will be mostly bound to our state’s primary results on the first ballot. So it will be interesting to see if Trump holds some big rallies and media buys here, and how that will affect the primary results. Of course, Washington State may be irrelevant by then too.
Different tactics for different places.
How did Cruz' actions disenfranchise anyone?
Explain that.
Cruz did NOT make those rules. Someone else did. So, tell me exactly what Cruz did to disenfranchise voters.
He followed the rules in place. That works with the "process". If the process is "perverted", that happened at the RNC, not the Cruz camp. Cruz did not make nor alter the rules.
As for going there, talking to people, getting support, that's called a "ground game". It means a lot in the rectangular states out west where cell service is often sketchy and we don't rely on twitter for news.
When else in American history do people who claim to be conservative decry putting forth effort and playing by the rules?
Complaining about how Cruz is supposedly "stealing delegates" or "disenfranchising voters" is crap, and a typical smear. He is doing what Trump decided NOT to do ("not worth the effort"). Cruz is going out there and doing the meet and greet legwork of campaigning. He has his people working for him and involved in the process.
And all Trump people are doing is complaining that it isn't "fair" and blaming the guy who didn't make the rules, as if he had cheated. He didn't.
It was no secret that the rules change meant that some states were going to pick delegates at their convention, nor that some of us were not happy about that. Where was Trump and all the bitching and whining then, or was it more opportune to wait until just before another primary to turn up the smear campaign against Cruz?
Trump made his bed, it was his choice not to bother, and apparently that left an impression. If our votes (delegates) were not worth the effort, we can have no faith that the problems of our states would be 'worth the effort' if he gets elected--and most of those problems stem directly from stupid Federal regulations and overbearing Federal agencies. IOW, those same agencies would have carte blanche to run amok for another term.
Horsecrap. "Mean spirited"? "nonproductive"? Trump's absence of a ground game was nonproductive. That's the truth, and if that's "mean spirited", some snowflake can't take the heat.
Trump and his supporters didn't get the job done. Bottom line, full stop, end of story.
Crying the other team cheated because you never took the field is nonsense and you know it.
The whole "Cruz Cheated" line of dreck is to smear Cruz just before another primary.
The rules have been out there for months, and there has been plenty of time to get a ground game in place, even if it meant that the guy who is supposedly spending his own money actually had to spend some.
