Techies are fans of any cash welfare programs because it fuels half of their incomes.

Ask: what would happen if all cash-based or EBT welfare were replaced by only material Food-Shelter-Clothing?

All of the Time-Warners, Disneys, Netflixes, NFLBaseballNBAs, ABCNBCCBSUsaToday and MSFTs of the world would COLLAPSE.

That is what they fear most.

Not to mention; cash welfare fuels the drug trade, keeps alcohol distributers in business and gives gangs a REASON to destroy their communities.

Why should we give cash to people who, in order to get it, need to prove that they have no capacity to use it wisely?

And watch what happens as soon as the money stops.

I’ll give you food for thought. People getting this monthly dole will quickly discover others (friends perhaps) who are also getting the same monthly dole. But, if person 2 sees anything at all that person 1 does not have, look out, Katie bar the door.

Person #1’s inclination will be to (a) steal what 2 has, or, (b) harm 2.

For some reason the economy is not collapsing. My best guess is that a lot of people are doing OK by working off the books in the gray or black market.

So all those folks who don't pay taxes will now also get some government dole.

It just won't work out in the real world.

The problem with a world that doesn't work is that entire sort of thinking doesn't consider that work is what gives life meaning and purpose.

Kenya has a population of 44 million. Giving 6,000 random Kenyans whatever amount they’re planning to give is more like running a lottery than running a welfare system.

I think you are entirely right. It makes people lazy and depressed. Work is good for your character and soul.
