Is your stomach in knots today? Happy Tax Day!
Most folks I know find themselves engulfed in stress just when they should be enjoying the arrival of spring and the beauty it brings. In March and April families can actually feel the tension build as Tax Day approaches. Dads are grumpy, and moms are even grumpier. Where are those receipts? When can I find the time to read all the new tax codes? Why does the government take so much? Can we afford to hire an accountant? Can we afford not to? Why the heck should we have to? Will the IRS investigate or audit me if I make a mistake? You know the drill.
And then there are the small business owners (like me and probably you, or someone you know): we are slammed with a whopping 35 percent tax rate that is the highest corporate tax rate in the developed world. Let me say that again to let it sink in: small business owners in the good ol' USA pay a higher rate of taxes than in any other civilized nation. This is not only a disgrace, it is immoral. How can it be that decent hardworking American entrepreneurs are bludgeoned every year by our own government? The result, of course, is that we often can't afford to hire the employees we need. Nor are we able to invest as much money back into our businesses so that we might grow them. For young adults and others with great ideas who are itching to start their own ventures, the tax rate looming over them can be stifling. All the while we hear about the big corporate executives who dance through endless loopholes and often end up paying less in taxes than their secretaries. (Did I mention that this is all a disgrace and immoral??)
Just when you've had enough, enter Ted Cruz: The Tax Basher!
Under a Cruz administration, Americans will enjoy a "new birth of freedom" each Spring! Your family and our country will be in much better economic shape when the Cruz Simple Flat Tax Plan is a reality. The individual rate of 10 percent will not only liberate families from tax stress, but will so simplify the system that the IRS can be abolished. (For families who are struggling to make it, there will be no taxes at all if the income is less than $ 36,000 a year.) Imagine the day when your tax return is the size of a post card; or think about how easy it will be to file your return through an iPhone app. Revel in the thought of getting to keep more of the money you earn by the sweat of your brow. Do a little jig as you consider that the IRS will be history!
For small business owners and large corporations alike, there will be a new Business Flat Tax rate of 16 percent. Gone will be the complex, unfair corporate income tax structure that favors big business. There will be no loop holes. No payroll taxes. No death tax. No sweat. The antiquated, unfair, burdensome system will be replaced with a modern, simplified, streamlined process that is, for the first time, equitable.
And get this: The nonpartisan Tax Foundation calculated that the Cruz Simple Flat Tax Plan will spur national economic growth and that every income level will enjoy a double digit increase in after-tax income. (Wouldn't you like a double digit increase in your income?) An estimated 4.9 million new jobs will be created, and average wages will see a 12.4 percent increase over the next decade. And think of the hundreds of millions of dollars in savings our federal budget will see when a stake is driven into the evil heart of the bureaucratic beast that is the IRS! You can read all about this marvelous plan at www.TedCruz.org (https://www.tedcruz.org/tax_plan_summary/)
So, as you slap the stamp on the envelope to mail that awful tax return by midnighttonight (or file that extension, yet again), do so with a song in your heart. The end is in sight! Go to TedCruz.org and print the image of the sample Cruz post card tax form and tape it to your mirror - and hand out a copy to everyone you know. Let it be a joyous reminder that you can kiss IRS-stress goodbye and welcome Spring with open arms when Ted Cruz is our president.
Cruz, Kasich, Sanders, Clinton they’re from the government and they’re here to help.
Cruz, Kasich, Sanders, Clinton and the rest of the gang of 535 and former gang members should be in federal prison.
6. But the grand nostrum will be a public debt
7. It must not be forgotten that the members of the legislative body are to have a deep stake in the game. This is an essential point, and happily is attended with no difficulty. A sufficient number, properly disposed, can alternately legislate and speculate, and speculate and legislate, and buy and sell, and sell and buy, until a due portion of the property of their constituents has passed into their hands
8. The ways in which a great debt, so constituted and applied, will contribute to the ultimate end in view are both numerous and obvious. (1) The favorite few, thus possessed of it, whether within or without the government, will feel the staunchest fealty to it, and will go through thick and thin to support it in all its oppressions and usurpations. (2) Their money will give them consequence and influence, even among those who have been tricked out of it. (3) They will be the readiest materials that can be found for a hereditary aristocratic order, whenever matters are ripe for one. (4) A great debt will require great taxes; great taxes, many taxgatherers and other officers; and all officers are auxiliaries of power.
9. The management of a great funded debt and a extensive system of taxes will afford a plea, not to be neglected, for establishment of a great incorporated bank. the use of such a machine is well understood. If the Constitution, according to its fair meaning, should not authorize it, so much the better. Push it through by a forced meaning and you will get in the bargain an admirable precedent for future misconstructions.
11. As soon as sufficient progress in the intended change shall have been made, and the public mind duly prepared according to the rules already laid down, it will be proper to venture on another and a bolder step toward a removal of the constitutional landmarks.

Paycheck stubbs. That’s what I would implement. Use them to verify that people are working 40 hours/wk. After 2,000 hours congress gets together and decides what the ‘MINIMUM INCOME’ should be. This can be done after all income is calculated. 40 hours a week will keep people too tired to cause trouble or attend protests(cheap date). Corporate taxes should cover ONLY essentials(defense, cops, fire). This will allow program elimination-people prefer cash and after 40 hours they become one of us. Non-workers? EBT cards can cover rice and beans only-a complete protein. Throw in free Ripple. After 4 years we can eliminate the minimum wage Problem solved.
Teds tax plan is a nothing burger
I think that a lot of conservatives fail to see that most of what Sen Cruz wants to do promotes individual liberty and reduces the control govt. has over our lives. I love his tax proposal!
Cruz has accepted the coin of the party leadership that has betrayed so he no longer fights for us but against us.
10% on everything including Capital Gains and Dividends?
Gone are the deductions when I need to buy new equipment or the depreciation of that equipment as I use it. Along with that goes all incentive to buy new equipment and the manufacturing base that goes with it.
Cruz’s tax plan sucks.
It is a VAT.
It's nice to see a criticism of Cruz based on his positions, rather than on his looks or on complete nonsense. That is the way FR is supposed to be, so thank you!
I disagree with your critique. A VAT would be a huge step in the right direction if it completely replaced the income tax. I overall prefer the resulting tax structure, since it removes all the perverse incentives to hide income, shift income, and otherwise move income around to where it's taxed the least instead of just a focus on generating income. We lose those old deductions, but we gain a whole lot of flexibility. Perhaps I'm wrong, and I haven't looked into it much, since I don't believe either party in Congress would give up its social engineering power from the income tax code. Still, I like the idea of VAT so long as it completely replaces the income tax.
Cruz the Rebel
See the way he walks down the street
Watch the way he shuffles his feet
My, he holds his head up high
When he goes walking by, he’s my guy
When he holds my hand, I’m so proud
‘Cause he’s not just one of the crowd
My baby’s always the one to try
the things they’ve never done
And just because of that, they say
He’s a rebel and he’ll never ever be any good
He’s a rebel ‘cause he never ever does what he should
But just because he doesn’t do what everybody else does
That’s no reason why I can’t give him all my love
Ted and the Cruzmatics
