“Letting people tell you what primary they want to vote in.”

Could be re-written as:
“Letting people vote for whomever they may please”.

We tend to vote for “people”, here, not for “parties”.

You know... you should have the right to vote for whoever you want on the 1st Tuesday of November. Picking a party nominee is a different thing.
