It’s Tax Day and You’re Mad as Hell. Where Is Your Money Going?
Conservative Review ^ | 04/17/16 | Rick Manning

Tomorrow, April 18th, is Tax Day.

Unfortunately, it won’t be until April 24th that you’ll have earned enough to pay what you actually owe – April 24th is the day the nation will have earned enough money to pay off its total tax bill for the year. In total, that is 114 working days before you get to keep what you earn!

As a country, it takes Americans a whopping 46 days to earn the money to pay all of our income taxes. That’s on top of the 26 days it takes to rack up the dough to pay payroll taxes, and another 15 days to pay sales and excise taxes. Corporate taxes, property taxes, and inheritance tax have their own timelines as well.

Overall, that tax bill includes $3.3 trillion in federal taxes, plus another $1.6 trillion for state and local taxes for a total of nearly $5 trillion in tax revenue. This is nearly $230 billion more in federal taxes than the prior tax year, 2014.

My Federal taxes help pay my daughter’s Coast Guard salary or my mother’s Medicare. My North Carolina taxes support the State Parks. My county taxes support the Sheriff’s Department and the library. My city taxes go to the city parks.

After many years of paying large sums of money in tax, I am pleased to say that for 2015 I paid no Federal income tax at all. Retirement is good!

Retirement by itself has, little to do with taxes. I am retired and paid $11,650 to those folks in DC.

My taxes help fund government payola scams, er, programs and funding....like 0bieCare, SNAP, CRomnibus and grants for churches that help unaccompanied (illegal) *minors* - that the elites have devised ways to skim off of the top from.

Please, sir....may I have another?

I will pay that or more in due course, if things go according to plan. But there’s no need to show income when you don’t have to.

My wine glass is well over half full, thank you very much!

But seriously, each of us pays X to the various taxing authorities, and the distribution is purely in our minds. If I thought my county property taxes were going to the school system, as 85% +/- of county taxes do, I’d be pissed. Instead, I think of supporting the Sheriff’s Department, which I like very much.

Great, but the end does not justify the means. The means in this case being extortion.

I agree. However, given that there’s nothing realistic I can do about it, I can have an attitude that upsets me or an attitude that doesn’t.

My daughter in the Coast Guard earns in the range of $30,000 a year, which is more than our family pays in Federal income taxes. We were supporting her when she lived at home, and now we (and others!) are supporting her in Seattle doing something regarding gunnery.

We done our bit, as the saying goes, and the rest of you get to throw in a few cents in aid of Gunner Anoreth, her shoreline apartment, and her barhopping dog.
