Reagan knew how to deal with the Russians. He just did it from a position from strength and made them pay for any such stunt. By paying the price up front, Reagan made the Russians not even think of confronting the US directly, thereby making the world safer for the duration of Reagan’s tenure. Obama’s weakness internationally have had the reverse effect of emboldening the nation’s enemies. Every non-response to provocation makes the world this much more unsafe.

“We don’t want or need a war with Russia, particularly because if such a war somehow went nuclear, it would be the end of civilization. But on the other hand, we shouldn’t let punks like Putin and his minions heedlessly push us around. My advice is, wait for another few years for Russia to collapse again and see if that doesn’t sober them up. But in the meantime be prepared for yet more adolescent games of chicken.”

Who wrote this crap some “We Are The World” protester. There will always be bad guys to deal with. ISIS is an example. Peace Through Strength someone once said.

Utter Bull$#!T.

If a Russian destroyer was just over the horizon from Corpus Christi Texas while launching and recovering a Cuban helicopter, I wish that an American President would do exactly the same thing.

We pushed by hosting a Polish (NATO) helicopter on a warship near the Russian naval base at Kalingrad.

What did we expect?

Mother Russia is very sick.

To direct her populations attention away from her sick bed, Putin has created distractions

Agree completely. People need to learn their history, and develop some perspective.

I can hardly blame Russia for having contempt towards us. Between our pathetic commander-in-chief and a now-faggotized military waving rainbow flags all over the place, it’s hard to say we merit any respect.

Magog’s fighter jet should have been shot down.

". . . it’s hard to say we merit any respect."

You missed the memo, respect is just another form of micro-aggression.

The whole thing is getting way out of proportion. The Russians have a huge inferiority complex. Getting attention for these shenanigans and distracting the Russian population from their economic woes is behind all of this.

Two years ago Russian separatists in Ukraine launched a ground to air missile supplied to them by the Russian military at a Boeing 777 with 299 passengers and crew, killing all aboard. They launched without even verifying their target, and posted gleeful boasts on social media until they figured out they had shot down a passenger jet and not a Ukrainian military craft.

Unproven conjecture based on "social media" intelligence.

One could build a similar case that the plane was shot down by Jewish fascists, perhaps under orders from the CIA.

(notwithstanding the realities that Russia is far from a genuine rival to America and that its economy is collapsing)

So this is a complete non-story. But gotta keep people stirred up. We might have a war with somebody... someday. Panic now! Immigration? Taxes? Spending? Irrelevant! Because Putin... Hitler... sort of.

Next time a Russian (or any other foreign jet) does a stunt like that, it should be shot down after a warning. It’s called deterrence.
