At one time the people had to choose between Jesus Man Baptist Jimmah Cawtuh who’d been married to the same woman all his life and a twice-married Californian who once signed the most liberal pro-abortion law in the country as Governor of California.
The people made the right choice because they know that the place for Jesus Man is in church or Sunday School.
I’ve been singing this song for a while now. By all means let us have a government that fulfills the prayer “that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.”
Generally this means a fair government. One that doesn’t go nosing around for trouble if you don’t go trying to trouble it.
The problem with bringing a lot of gospel evangelical zeal into a place like the White House is that the opportunities for it to be used in a godly manner are going to be few, and the temptations to misuse it are going to be many. It’s a different kind of ministry, one that has much use for decent men, but not for burning gospel evangelists.
Poor Jimmy Carter was so frustrated, and in the end bitter, mistaking worldly affairs for church affairs. He would have done a lot better as a missionary.
