I’m not theologist, but the lamb’s blood represented the sacrifice that saved the Hebrews, and it is Christ’s blood that saved me. Plus, I don’t need to go sacrifice any animals. So there’s that.
Christ was the Lamb of God, sacrificed on that Passover long ago to save us from the wrath of the Almighty, just as the lambs’ blood on doorposts protected the Hebrews in Egypt when the Exodus began.
The parallels are divinely poetic.

Prayer takes the place of sacrifice - except for the ultra-orthodox - at least until The Temple is restored.
Animal sacrifice is not currently a widespread practice in Judaism.
