Kasich is correct about the way Christians put that story together as we tie the Old Testament to the New Testament.
We do view the blood of the Passover Lamb as a preshadowing of the blood of Christ.
This is not a new thought. It is millennia old, all the way back to the Apostles.
The Apostle Paul said: “1 Corinthians 5:7 Get rid of the old yeast, so that you may be a new unleavened batchas you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.”
I agree with you. Saying it in a Jewish setting may have been the cringe worthy part. :)
I attended a “seder dinner” class put on my a Messianic Jew (believer of Jesus.). IIRC at the early part of the dinner they put a piece of unleavened bread in a napkin and go hide it. Then at the end the kids go look for it and the one who finds it gets a prize or something.
Anyway - the guy said that it is just a fun game. There is no meaning behind it in the Jewish tradition. Then he said something like “But, as Christians - what does this obviously represent? This fun game for the Jews - I believe it was God giving us (he’s a Jew) insight to Jesus’s death and resurrection. The bread/body wrapped in a napkin/death cloth and hidden away for awhile - only to be discovered again - and the joy the discovery brings!”
Right idea but bad execution.lol. Kinda tells you all you need to know about Kasich.
Awesome truth.
That is very generous of you. :). I just don’t see Kasich as a Biblical scholar.
