Oh, like this will work. It tickles me that anyone could think "calling out" can affect some sort of change.
Calling out can’t hurt. So far ignoring the incivility hasn’t solved the problem.
When Trump is the nominee, he will want votes from the 30% of republicans who voted Cruz. Being rude and abusive to the Cruz voters who recognize the genuine conservatism that motivates Cruz won’t help with that. If Cruz is the nominee instead, he will want votes from the 40% of republicans who voted Trump. Being rude and abusive to Trump voters who recognize Trump’s potential to change the corrupt system won’t help with that either. I have all the time in the world, and if I can make even a small difference and reduce the alienation of either group of voters, I’ll consider that a very big deal.
The penalty for failing to come together is huge. Without republican unity, Hillary wins, and at best we have a second civil war. At worst, American freedom will be destroyed without even a fight, and we will live in the world of 1984, or Atlas Shrugged, or of whatever nightmare world Hillary wants to rule over. After Obama, the last vestiges of the Constitution provide no protection at all. With Hillary’s lust for power, and no effective legal constraints, her reign will be unimaginably terrible.
