Thanks to the Gary Sinise Foundation, retired Army Master Sgt. Cedric King and his wife and family have a new home.
As reported on WSB-TV in Atlanta and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Sgt. King was on his third deployment in Afghanistan in 2012 when stepped on a pressure plate improvised explosive device (IED) and lost both legs.
"The house I live in right now, you have to understand, I bought it before I went to Afghanistan," King told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "I never thought in a million years that house would not be enough ... I always thought it would be somewhere I could raise my (family)."
Added King: "Fast forward two years, and I don't have legs ... I have a wheelchair, but can't get through most doors in my house." He also said going up the stairs was difficult.

Our eldest received a home from Homes for our Troops. They do amazing things for wounded vets.
It’s amazing that those who play the worst slimeballs in the movies and TV actually have the biggest hearts and are approachable to fans. And then the nice guys in the movies are the a—holes in real life.
I just saw the Lt Dan Band at Ft Irwin, CA last month. What an exceptional human being Gary Sinise appears to be. They played for two hours. He said his grandfather drove an ambulance in WWI but his wife’s two brothers served in Vietnam as did her late brother-in-law. Her brother-in-law came back from Vietnam and taught at West Point and then at Ft Leavenworth. Next month her late brother-in-law is being inducted into the Ft Leavenworth Hall of Fame which has a long list of famous service members that passed through the schools or taught at Ft Leavenworth.
We need more, but will Donald shake loose all that money he promised to vets?
I also have attended a concert, had a great time and left behind a decent chunk of cash for a VERY worthy cause. Thank God my son is out of 2nd Bat without need of Gary’s foundation.
I’m glad to see your comment about the Foundation. I’ve mentioned it before on here but never had much response. I too have been a supporter since the creation of the Foundation.
