away from the dictates of modern architectural trends. The Guggenheim Museum
represented the most poetically linked of all of Frank Lloyd Wright's works.

Mrs. Guggenheim and Solomon R. Guggenheim, a patron of the arts. Solomon Guggenheim
commissioned this project in 1943, and approved the plans before his death in 1949.
Construction began in 1957 and was completed in 1959.
