Have you ever been on the Korean Ground, in Uniform as an Imfantryman?

I think South Korea needs a sniper...a skilled sniper...one willing to sacrifice his life to prevent nuclear war.

"The financially prosperous S. Korea wouldn't have any problem with them.......... "

Isn't the situation that the norks have enough old-fashioned arty to flatten Seoul in about five minutes?

That's what the Nork propagandists say............but look at the reality.

The north fought the south to a stalemate during the Korean war using the conventional weapons that were available to both sides at that time.

Since that time, the Norks have remained frozen in history and any advancements to their military have been hand me downs from the Russians and Chinese.

In order to build a military, a country needs money and the Norks have been isolated from the rest of the world for decades while the SKorks have prospered and thus have been able to expand and advance their own military with the up to date weaponry that's available to every country that can afford them........ The Norks can't.

The SKorks have a whole host of modern attack fighters while the Norks are stuck with the Russian hand offs...........

Even without the intervention of allies such as the U.S., South Korea would kick the Norks even deeper into the stone age than what they already live in..........

We can't: Carter ordered the plant and tooling destroyed as a "good will" gesture.

Dem Presidents are just the gift that keeps on giving for our enemies.

Just started watching the on Netflix

The Admiral (2014)

Korean with English subtitles so going kind of slow. Plus I keep stopping to read up on each battle the movie references or to look it up on a map.

A-10 production continued until 1984.

You should go see the Admiral Yi underground museum in Seoul if you are ever there. It is located under his famous statue in the Gwanghwamun Square, which is in front of Gyeongbokgung Palace along with the statue of King Sejong. It connects to another underground museum about the life and accomplishments of King Sejong, considered Korea’s greatest king and the inventor of the hangeul writing system (and numerous other technological and scientific accomplishments developed by the king and his advisers).

Both museums are good and free (in my recollection). Most everything is in English as well as Korean.

I remember that statue (I also remember the larger-than-life statue of Gen. MacArthur in Inchon). I’d love to go back one day to see the museum (and for the food).

Seoul is a blast. It’s one of my favorite cities. Unbelievably high-tech and modern, with buildings that look like something out of Star Wars (the main library at Ewha Women’s University is my favorite), and yet with a lot of the ancient Korea still visible if you know where to look. And yes, the food is wonderful.

I don’t have any doubt that the South Koreans would ultimately win a war - it’s not 1950 anymore, but the norks reputedly have thousands of artillery tubes pointed at Seoul. They don’t need to have the latest, greatest technology to effectively hold the South hostage.

One would hope that the South has set up their military production factories in the southern end of the peninsula and away from easy attack by the savages.

Another thing I have wondered about is whether the South has many underground faciities and ones inside mountains as the North does.

That old adage that an army marches on it's stomach is true, their country is starving and so would their military if they would be stupid enough to go to war again.

The Norks announced recently that there would be a food shortage. Are they really experiencing an especially bad harvest, or are they stockpiling food to feed up their army for an offensive?

“The north fought the south to a stalemate during the Korean war using the conventional weapons that were available to both sides at that time. “

After US/UN forces had pushed the Norks almost out of the country, the PRC intervened with several hundred thousand troops and eventually forced a stalemate around the 38th Parallel.

That being said, an army only has to be good enough long enough to win. Any war on the Korean Peninsula would get “interesting” in a hurry. I wouldn’t want to be there.

"...with buildings that look like something out of Star Wars..."

The Chinese have a building that looks like the Enterprise:

I doubt that it affects the balance of power, but it's cool nonetheless. :)
