That still doesn't make it unethical. This isn't the first time a political party gave a cold shoulder to a leading member. At least, as observers, we will infer what we will about the values of the combatants, with the party choosing sides while claiming not to be choosing sides.
Eventually, what changes the party is turnover. Right now, the party is the party of go-along to get-along Bush, Romney, Ryan, Preibus, McConnell, McCain, Graham, etc. It keeps them in clover.
Somebody has to be in charge as the world transitions from nation states to new world order. And those somebodies will be known as "the powerful." This isn't now and never has been the same as "the people."
It’s unethical. Quit defending it as moral, rational, or ethical. It is unethical to outright defy the voice of we-the-people. That was their professed mission statement, on record for all to see.
