Founded as a republic (”If you can keep it...”), but one no longer. We are a decadent nation-state. Why decadent? Only decadent governments pass legislation without reading it.

We can be a republic and have fair elections. Each state hold a primary and states get to send their delegates to represent the voters desires. Having politicians who have screwed our country so badly pick our nominee is criminal. I guess you like the direction the politicians are taking our country. Disgusting!
The USA was FOUNDED as a republic and the founders warned us against the evils of democracy as well they should have but in truth what we have now is in its effects an oligarchy which seems to be the end result of all attempts to establish a just government.
