A wife cannot testify against her husband and a husband cannot testify against his wife.
I thought they had the "choice" of testifying. Of course, I could be wrong, not being a lawyer and all.

You are correct. There is no prohibition against one spouse testifying against the other. It must, however, be voluntary.
