Naturally a US citizen because one cannot be anything else.

Nope, that is incorrect. Naturally as in never needing, or ever was naturalized. Sen Cruz was born a US Citizen, he has always been and US Citizen and has never needed to be naturalized. He is a natural born citizen.

Any scam that supposedly “harms” Sen. Cruz is allowed to be posted on FR these days.

On the other hand it is kind of fun to watch the Branch tRumpidians get all excited over and over again only to be let down once again when nothing pans out.

It’s WORSE than tiresome. It’s outright deceitful. These poseurs have jack squat and they know it.

They have nothing to release - and nothing doesn’t draw any interest. So, they try a little extortion - but it is empty extortion because the extortee can see right through their bullcrap. But the public does not know that and the weak minded among us can be sucked into the scam.

I will guarantee that there are 20 to 50 people right here on Free Republic, the reputational premier conservative gathering place on the internet, who will bite down on this piece of excrement with unnerving gusto and relish, even bragging about it to their friends.

That’s what we have become.

“As long as their fathers had resided in the US”

So all you have to do is to get non citizen daddy to “reside” in the United States and bingo your eligible? Come on that doesnt even pass the smell test.

Fundamental lack of understanding.

“Here we go again. If either of your parents is an American citizen then you are one too no matter where you were born.”

Citizen yes, natural born, NO. But, I have seen reports that Ted’s mom voted in Canada, supposedly needing to be a Canadian citizen to do so. The question becomes did she renounce her US citizenship to become a Canadian? I’m not saying she did, but it’s out there and Ted needs mama to have been a US citizen when he was born for him to be a US citizen.

Thanks.

I didn't mean to suggest it was/is your story.

I just know that I don't want the prevaricators to sally forth and retake San Juan Hill on surreptitious American citizenship that shows up PFM-style. (Pretty f*n magic)

You need to look a bit further. The Founders repealed that act almost immediately. The new act which was finalized in 1795 was specifically called the repeal of 1790 Act. It was identical to the earlier act except there was no reference to Natural born. The correspondence at the time specifically referenced that the 1790 act was flawed because there was an erroneous granting of Natural born status to children born abroad.

It is much worse than a bluff. what does it say about an accuser that they say they have incontrovertible evidence but they dangle it rather than just show it? Regardless of what they have, they are not friends of America.

Which is what I was implying.. Jugears at least had the decency to forge an American BC whereas Teddy has NO AMERICAN BC.
Ted is not one of us
Can he really be a US senator since senatorial succession is a part of the Senate duty in a natonl crisis?

No that is not true. If either of your parents is an American citizen then you are one too no matter where you were born.”

As I pointed out the children born in Vietnam to servicemen were not able to claim citizenship. The laws are complex and that is why a consular form needs to be presented to the consulate, so that the right to American citizenship can be adjudged according to the circumstances of the birth, of the parents and of the statutes in force at the time.

I’ll answer that.

First it’s “natural law”. Just the way things are. The way everybody knows it to be.

Second it is the United States Constitution, Article II, Section 1, Clause 5. Which was based on Vattel’s the Law of Nations Book 1, page 212.

Third it has been stated as such in several supreme court cases.

A natural born citizen is a child born of TWO citizen parents on U.S. soil or military base (overseas).

Not according to the founders. When the founders passed the very first acts of congress, they included the naturalization act of 1790. But rather than speculating on their intent, lets let the founders speak for themselves by quoting from the act;

"the children of citizens of the United States that may be born beyond Sea, or out of the limits of the United States, shall be considered as natural born Citizens: provided, That the right of citizenship shall not descend to persons whose fathers have never been resident in the United States"

Now since we KNOW that Sen Cruz's dad did in fact, reside in the United States, and we KNOW that Sen Cruz was born a US citizen AND has never needed to be naturalized, we KNOW that he would have met the founders letter of the law as well as the spirit of the law.

But if they do and they reveal it and it is authentic, what will happen as a result?

Actually Sen Cruz started life as a US Citizen. He was a US citizen at birth.

And those reports are just as fallacious and crap loaded as the present buckets of dung being thrown all over this forum I have loved for so long.
