The legislature in the Mariana Islands moved to impose a $1,000 excise tax on all handguns sold in the U.S. territory on Wednesday.
The legislation comes after a federal court struck down its handgun ban late last month.

About 30 years ago, we had a bunch of local politicians who wanted to ban porn movies for rental. They lost that case. They decided to impose a $30 rental tax on porn movies figuring that would end their rental. Several courts ruled the tax unconstitutional since it’s purpose was to ban an activity and not to raise revenue. Same thing will happen here.

I took a few guns to Guam when I was stationed there. Biggest pain in the ass decision I ever made.
Infringement is an understatement.
