Earlier today I viewed an excerpt from a short video clip of Ray Lewis, former Baltimore Ravens NFL star speaking to the Black Lives Matter movement about gun violence deaths of Black men resulting from the use of a gun by other Black men. Lewis made the point that such deaths are more frequent and quantitatively greater than those Black men killed by white police officers.
What he said is true.
I support the Black Lives Matter movement in its awakening the national conscience to numerous instances of lethal force used by police in killing black men. Most of such shootings occurred under circumstances where the use of non-lethal force, as an option, may have been possible to effect, what an otherwise may have been a lawful arrest.
What surprised me is not truth of what Lewis said, but the pushback against his comments from persons purporting to represent the Black Lives Matters movement and other so-called leaders.

Whites need not attend. It’s too dangerous there.
The words fall upon ears that don’t understand and would rather blame whitey.
How many black men rape/murder white women as opposed to how many white men rape/murder black women?
Such a rampant problem in places like Vermont or New Hampshire or Montana or the Dakotas, we really need to tighten the gun laws there (do I actually need the sarc).
Trump effect by proxy. Bill Clinton. Trump has elevated the discussion to what is empirically observable, forces others to grow a pair.
It's really interesting given his own checkered past. Sounds like a lot of self-reflection has led him to see some things to which he was previously blind.
Part of the reparations clause in some obscure document that we’ll never see allows this activity. Or something.
The fact of the matter is more whites are killed on a per capita basis by the police in confrontations than blacks. So should the police hesitate in a lethal confrontation with a black person because a bunch of black chauvinists has declared themselves and their race a national treasure.
BLM is not about black lives. Just like "climate change", it's about political power.
Clarence Jones apparently does not understand "leftist idiots 101".
He seems to think that BLM 'leaders' and supporters actually believe that "black lives matter". That's as foolish as believing that people who participate in the "Peace Movement" are interested in "peace".
Bzzzzzt - wrong answer.
Those are just convenient vehicles for tearing apart Western Civilization so that it can be replaced by mindless Communist savagery. For them, the stated agenda is never the real agenda.
What will it take for a fool like Clarence Jones to understand that?
“Uh, from the huffpo?”
It’s been up 3 hours, and only one reader has been brave enough to comment.
